Borderless

Borderless is a local initiative to create a friendly, safe, and supportive space for POC LGBTQ+ refugees / forced migrants. We want to challenge prejudice and dismantle hate through raising awareness on LGBTQ issues, creating partnerships with organisations (including educational institutions and faith groups), promoting open conversations between residents and providing information on gender and sexual diversity.

Borderless is a partnership between Queer Newham, Seeders Circle and Newham Poetry Group.

What our participants say about Borderless

"For me like is a home from far home …when you come here, we come and share your feelings. Be who you are, feel open to do what you feel like doing.  It's a place where you feel free. You feel like you're just in the sky like bird flying, its home from us that came from another place. So, it's kind of like home from home, another home, a second home which became the first home".

"It is a safe space and can be whatever you want and be accepted".

"It's a support group where I just feel at home; everyone is welcoming and you can express yourself as you want. You can be whoever you want to be in any shape or form and it's all love".

"Borderless is a space to explore our identities in the context of migration and how this movement geographically an internally has impacted our lives under activism".

"Borderless for me means support"
